Key Words: Co-construction of meaning, transcodic mark, print media, context, language contact
The co-construction of meaning of the Spanish transcodic marks used in the American print media is built up from the socio-economic conditions of medias that act as socio economic institutions and from the semiological conditions that give shape to the media text. In the production phase of the media text, the informant suggests discursive identities whose roles are significant in the co-construction of meaning. The enunciator demostrates the referent or the meaning of the transcodic marks to the readers by using different mechanisms and the target reader becomes an interpreter immersed in an inter-discursive context.
